Easy Select from GITP Assists Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg in Talent Selection

In a time when many companies face significant personnel shortages, it is even more crucial to hire and retain the right people. This reality also applies to Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg (WBL). To mitigate the risks of a mismatch, WBL teamed up with GITP, which provided a solution through its Easy Select tool. Recently, this tool was used for filling three new positions.

WBL is a government agency focused on purifying wastewater in the province of Limburg. With around 280 professionals, they work tirelessly 24 hours a day to find new destinations for purified water. In recent months, WBL has recruited a new (Senior) HR advisor and two Finance & Control employees. These employees were selected and found suitable for their positions, partly thanks to Easy Select, a tool specifically developed by GITP.

Efficient and Clear

Easy Select allows companies to gain insight into the professional competencies of applicants in an accessible way. According to Remco Rops, Senior HR advisor at WBL, it was exactly what they were looking for. He is enthusiastic about the efficient and clear outcomes delivered via Easy Select. “We used the tool twelve times for the three different positions. It works quickly, practically, and provides us with valuable input for the second interview with potential candidates.”

Remco explains that the tool is valuable not only for organizations but also for candidates. “We inform candidates about what to expect if they enter our application process. During the first interview, we discuss the digital assessment, and they receive the invitation via their private email address.” The test, which candidates take, consists of two parts that collectively take a maximum of one hour. “Once the test is completed, the candidate immediately receives a report with a score, and after their approval, the results are shared with us.”

Discussion Points for the Second Interview

According to Remco, the score is not decisive in whether a candidate proceeds to the second interview. A low score does not necessarily mean someone is unsuitable for the position. Paradoxically, the opposite can also be true. The results are linked to the themes of decisiveness, connectivity, and individual strength. “For some positions, you might not be looking for someone who scores very high on a particular theme, and sometimes you are. For us, the score is always useful as it simply provides insight into whether someone might fit in here, both in the position and within the team. We then delve into this further during the second interview.”

Choosing GITP

Working with Easy Select naturally evolved at WBL. Remco mentions that they have collaborated with GITP for many years, particularly in comprehensive assessments. “The collaboration began during a time when we needed many people. GITP's assessments were used for all vacancies.” These assessments helped the organization select the right people but were sometimes time-consuming. “The assessments are very useful and thorough, but that level of detail is not always necessary. When we heard about a simpler variant that took less time, it piqued our interest. After a presentation from GITP at our office, we decided to give it a try, and we have no regrets.”

Despite this, it was not a given that this project would be assigned to GITP. Other organizations in Limburg were also allowed to showcase their tools. “It’s good to see what different parties have to offer and make a comparison,” continues Remco. “In the public sector, it is also mandatory. We were looking for a flexible and efficient partner, and GITP was our choice again.”

Pleasant Collaboration

Remco describes the collaboration with GITP as particularly pleasant. “It has always been this way. In comprehensive assessments, we had more contact with them as they played a role in advising. That’s not the case with Easy Select; we receive a clear report in plain language, and there’s no need to speak to an advisor.” However, this doesn’t mean there is no contact at all. Twice a year, there is an evaluation moment. “This is useful for both parties because we can share our experiences using the tools, and GITP can inform us of the latest developments, which is also very beneficial.”

The use of Easy Select has been so well received at WBL that it is very likely this collaboration with GITP will continue. Remco concludes, “We are now looking at how we can further roll this out in the organization. This way of working suits us excellently.” According to him, the assessments also help reduce future risks. “By having a better idea of whether someone fits within the organization, the chance of a mismatch decreases. Attracting and retaining talent is very important to us, which is a significant challenge today, and Easy Select helps us make the right choices.”
